EDI Approach
In all my projects, I am an advocate for racially and culturally inclusive work.
It is my strong belief that we enrich our understanding of each other by exploring, sharing, and celebrating our unique contributions rather than avoiding them. To this end, as a director I practice color conscious casting, either choosing works that are written to give voice to the diversity of our world or setting classical texts in times and places which offer the same opportunities.
I then include those historically authentic cultural journeys in the dramaturgy and the rehearsal process; creating a brave space where we, as artists, can incorporate and illuminate marginalized narratives.
I love movement
My movement aesthetic draws on my background in Viewpoints, Suzuki, Stage Combat, and Period Styles to build textually supported, visually dynamic, and culturally motivated qualities of movement.
In all moments of emotional violence and intimacy, I am committed to providing a space, language, and process for safe, respectful creativity of expression.
